George W. Bush - President of the United States - January 15, 2009 | | Saying "Yes" to Life Oh God, forgive us. We have not cared to look upon the evil of abortion for what it is, the slaughter of the innocents. We have negligently, cowardly, looked the other way, and said to ourselves, "What can I do?" when the truth is, we were not willing to do anything that might raise the eyebrows of our friends and peers, anything that might have cost us, when our salvation cost Him everything. We have feared the judgment of men, and the loss of our own freedoms and even life itself, when He looked beyond the judgment and suffering to what lay beyond death, an eternity with You, and our salvation. Oh LORD, we should have feared the judgement of our creator, to whom we belong. We are not our own. We are bought with a price, the blood of our Savior. Have mercy on us LORD, for we love you as Savior, but not as LORD. We have not lost our lives in order to find it. May we lose our lives for Your sake and the millions yet unborn that were and are in your mind from eternity past. Use us to protect them from fallen, deceived, and self absorbed servants of Satan who would destroy what you have purposed that they may continue on as gods of their own lives. Have mercy dear LORD, for they are setting themselves for the coming Day of Wrath. And may your people arise in the power of Your Holy Spirit to say "No more" to death, and "YES! to LIFE! In the mighty and powerful Name of Jesus, we pray. Amen. | | Jeremiah 19:3-5 "Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; behold, I will bring evil upon this place, the which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle. Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it unto other gods, who neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the blood of innocents; they have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind: Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that this place shall no more be called Tophet, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter." | | "Our destruction, if it come at all, will be from the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence." Daniel Webster 1782 - 1852 United States Senator and Secretary of State for Three Presidents | | | Please pray that . . . - Christians everywhere will not fear man, but honor and exalt the Prince of Peace at all times and in all places, and in all their 'ways', including the issue of the innocents
- We, like John the Baptist, will become 'forerunners' to prepare the way for the return of Christ
- We will share the knowledge of salvation, the forgiveness of sins, and God's tender mercies more often, at home, in the workplace, in our schools, and at the gates', and in all our 'ways'
- We will walk in the light as He is in the light, wisely, kindly, and with grace and respect in all our 'ways' before those in public service
- That He will guide our feet as citizens, into the way of peace
- Our Christian leaders, will call the nation to prayer, lay hold of His power through the preached Word, cry out as never before in repentance, and shepherd their people in the power of the Holy Spirt, in all their 'ways'
- Our pulpits would again be on fire for righteousness
- Our pastors would once again call our elected officials to respect eternal principles and honor His truth to the glory of God
- God's people will repent of their worldliness, self absorption, apathy and indifference to the eternal Word of God
- Christians across the nation will intercede for this President, and those he selects to serve, that they will be moved in all their 'ways', to avoid the wrath to come if they implement laws destructive and detrimental to human life, marriage between a man and woman only, the family, children, the unborn, the elderly, and our God given freedoms
- Christians throughout America will fulfill their 'salt and light' citizenship responsibility in restoring the nation "Under God"
- Israel will prevail in her righteous cause and that the God of Heaven will protect and preserve her until the Day of Jesus Christ
- We, His people, will believe once again that He "is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works within us" (Ephesians 3:20)
Please support our efforts to Restore the Nation, "Under God"

National Sanctity of Human Life Day, 2009
A Proclamation by the President of the United States of America
All human life is a gift from our Creator that is sacred, unique, and worthy of protection. On National Sanctity of Human Life Day, our country recognizes that each person, including every person waiting to be born, has a special place and purpose in this world. We also underscore our dedication to heeding this message of conscience by speaking up for the weak and voiceless among us.
The most basic duty of government is to protect the life of the innocent. My Administration has been committed to building a culture of life by vigorously promoting adoption and parental notification laws, opposing Federal funding for abortions overseas, encouraging teen abstinence, and funding crisis pregnancy programs. In 2002, I was honored to sign into law the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, which extends legal protection to children who survive an abortion attempt. I signed legislation in 2003 to ban the cruel practice of partial-birth abortion, and that law represents our commitment to building a culture of life in America. Also, I was proud to sign the Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004, which allows authorities to charge a person who causes death or injury to a child in the womb with a separate offense in addition to any charges relating to the mother.
America is a caring Nation, and our values should guide us as we harness the gifts of science. In our zeal for new treatments and cures, we must never abandon our fundamental morals. We can achieve the great breakthroughs we all seek with reverence for the gift of life.
The sanctity of life is written in the hearts of all men and women. On this day and throughout the year, we aspire to build a society in which every child is welcome in life and protected in law. We also encourage more of our fellow Americans to join our just and noble cause. History tells us that with a cause rooted in our deepest principles and appealing to the best instincts of our citizens, we will prevail.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim January 18, 2009, as National Sanctity of Human Life Day. I call upon all Americans to recognize this day with appropriate ceremonies and to underscore our commitment to respecting and protecting the life and dignity of every human being.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this fifteenth day of January, in the year of our Lord two thousand nine, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-third.
GEORGE W. BUSH
