Serious Prayer

The Joy of The LORD is our Strength Looking unto Him, the Author and Finisher of our Faith November 30, 2008 I recently returned from 8 days in Oregon speaking four times to nearly 500 Christians, all of which, to my knowledge and conversation, were very concerned about America's future considering the outcome of the November 4th Elections. Never before have I seen such concern on the faces of God's people, save for a few whose perception of reality is solidly based on the everlasting character and promises of God, from Whom they derived their strength and firm hope. As I spoke with others on the plane back to Nashville, taking time to reflect on what I had seen and heard, my own concerns for our great nation were once again thrust upon the backdrop of our history, the Hebrew Prophets, Christ's teaching about the time of His return, and the steady march toward those events that this election and world events seemed to foretell.

Eternal Father, Holy Spirit, and Jesus Christ, Who was and is and is to come, Your warnings have been many, your mercies replete with grace, forgiveness, and great patience. Open the eyes of our hearts through your Holy Spirit that we may see You as You are, as Abba Father, ever seeking to draw us, and the lost, to the abundant joy there is in knowing you and your plans for us beyond this life. Grant your children everywhere the peace within that comes to our spirit as we place our hope and trust in You and You alone for our future and the future of our children. Open our eyes to see that we live in a time of great harvest, and it is we Your children whom You seek to use to reach out to millions that they might be saved from Satan's grasp, reconciled to You, and restored to the hope they so desperately need. Help us Oh LORD, to look up! To realize in our heart of hearts that this earth is not our eternal abode and that You have called us to join You in Your love for the lost and in the great venture that is rejoicing faith, day by day, life by life, eternal in it's outcome, fulfilling to the soul, and alive with Your presence! Hear our prayer dear LORD, and grant that we will live again today, and tomorrow, in the knowledge that you are ever with us to the end of the age. Amen. Please pray that. . . We all will look beyond the foolishness of unwise men who seek power and position in American politics, to the all wise, all knowing God of the universe Those who are called to serve in leadership positions in and out of the halls of government will see their need for the wisdom and counsel of God to perform their duties as unto Him The Body of Christ will see their calling to serve His Kingdom in an increasingly darkened age We will not walk in fear but in faith in Him Who is ever faithful to meet our needs as He has promised God's people will care for, affirm, and encourage each other, daily, with joy Your Servant, and His, David Crowe

Help Requested to Set Up a Memorial for the Unborn (11/22/08) and More

Dear Brothers and Sisters for Life and Purity,

I hope and pray all finds you well.

Tomorrow on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 8:00am at the site on Beech St. and MLK we will be erecting a memorial to the precious unborn children as people do when there has been a fatal accident along the road. One of our supporters came up with this idea and has yellow ribbons for us. I know this is short notice but please come and pray and bring a little doll or toy or just yourself to help set up a memorial.

Thanks to all of you who pray and work so hard for our effort. I firmly believe that our stopping Planned Parenthood will be one of the greatest life saving events in our country and we are so blessed to be part of it. Keep praying for the conversion of all involved with trying to build the center and pray for all of the volunteers. Please pray for guidance of how you are to help. We are called to take a stand on this most important project for life and purity. Please pray for a young lady we are helping who is saying yes to life.

AFP Oregon calls for legislature to follow the laws

AFP Calls on Legislature to Cut Spending in Response to Shortfall

Shortfall Created by Twenty-One Percent Spending Increase Should be Addressed by Immediate Spending Cuts, Privatization of Government Services

SALEM – Americans For Prosperity-Oregon State Director and former State Representative Jeff Kropf announced today his organization’s support for spending reductions and privatization initiatives to close the shortfall caused by reckless spending by the 2007 Legislature. The State economic and revenue forecast released today showed the current budget is $140 million short of balance as Oregonians have lost jobs and income in the recession. The 2007 Legislature increased General Fund spending by $6 billion, or 21 percent – one of the largest budget increases in State history. Oregon law requires a balanced budget.

Oregon is only a few years removed from its last budget crisis, brought on by another period of overspending and a slowed economy due to the 9/11 attacks. The 2007 Legislature dramatically raised taxes and fees so that government workers could be given outsized salary increases and the most generous government worker benefit package in the nation.

“It’s like déjà vu all over again,” said Kropf. “By its irresponsible spending policies, Oregon’s Legislature has led our State to the same precipice twice in less than a decade. The Legislature should act to reduce spending at the earliest opportunity, should develop a plan to reduce taxes and fees to create jobs, and then begin a serious discussion of privatizing government services as so many other state and local governments have.” Kropf urged the State to immediately begin reducing its workforce, since salary and benefit payments make up the majority of State spending and layoffs would be the quickest way to balance the budget.

The 2007 Legislature also increased taxes on business – purposefully killing jobs. Recently, Governor Kulongoski approved salary increases for State managers of 11 – 24 percent over two years, while thousands of Oregonians working in the private sector were losing their jobs. The Cato Institute recently gave Governor Kulongoski a grade of “F” for his performance as a fiscal manager.

“Any tax increase in a recession will only make the recession worse,” concluded Kropf. “AFP stands ready to work with its members and partners around the state to refer any tax increase to the ballot. Voters showed their good judgment by rejecting two huge income tax and a cigarette tax increase earlier this decade. We are confident they will continue to understand economics better than the Governor and the Legislature. The people of this state have to live within their means – and so should the government.”
