| Oregon Supreme Court Again Fails to Act! Could it be that they do not intend the voters of Oregon to have a say? June 6, 2008 | | The Oregon Supreme Court failed again this week to take action on the Attorney General's certified ballot title for Initiative Petition 145 to repeal SB 2. It will now be seven weeks since both the Secretary of State and the Attorney General submitted a legally vetted and approved certified ballot title to Oregon's seven Supreme Court Justices for approval. The question all Oregonians should now be asking is, "Why has it taken this long?" For sure, they are wondering if sufficient time remains to collect and turn in the required signatures by July 3rd. | |
| Salient Facts It took their peers in the California Supreme Court only a week to decide against the appeal from 13 State Attorneys General to stay their decision until the people voted in November. In 2004, under different leadership, it took Oregon's high court only 3 weeks to release it's ruling, giving Oregonians the opportunity to say "No" to same sex marriage. Why now does it take 7 weeks! Could it be that they do not intend to allow Oregonians to have a say in whether a small and intolerant special interest group focused on their sexual identity should dictate it's will upon all Oregonians? It certainly looks that way. If the Court acts next week, as it could, and should, out of deference to the people of Oregon, the approved online petition template can be placed on the Concerned Oregonian and Restore America web sites along with numerous other like value web sites to be downloaded, signed and mailed to Concerned Oregonians for delivery to the Elections Division on July 3rd. With the help of email blasts to thousands of Oregonians from Family Research Council, American Family Association, and a host of other pro life, pro family organizations, along with Oregon's churches and everyone on the Restore America and Concerned Oregonians email lists, the required 82,769 signatures - and 10,000 more - could be gathered quickly. Believe God with us and TAKE ACTION. Pray, ask your church, home group, and friends to pray, and prepare to download, sign, and mail in the online petition as soon as Concerned Oregonians and Restore America have the petition posted in the event the Court acts. Put out a preliminary email announcement to your personal list immediately in preparation. Ask people to pray, and spread the word as widely as possible!
