| LAKE OSWEGO, OREGON - Oregonian's current challenge, like that of the citizens of California, is no longer about 'same sex marriage', civil unions, ergo 'domestic partnerships, bisexuality, sex changes, or ones sexual identity. Neither is it about homosexual or lesbian behavior, alleged discrimination, special rights and privileges, bigotry, hatred or intolerance, or how we voted on any of these issues in the past. Our challenge now is public officials who are determined to carry out the agenda of a special interest group no matter what the citizens have said in the past or wish to say now. To wit: Today, the Oregon Supreme Court, after nine weeks, finally released it's decision on the Attorney General's Certified Ballot Title for Initiative 145. While they could have decided much earlier, allowing the people of Oregon to say whether they wanted to VOTE in November on granting special rights and privileges to homosexuals, they chose not to, for reasons that can only be seen for what they are, political expedience.
They were however, kind enough to leave Concerned Oregonians 6 days to print, distribute, and collect 100,000 petition signatures, by July 3rd, the State's deadline. How thoughtful of them. | Whereas the Elections Division couldn't wait to close the legal window to validate rejected signatures from 30 days to just 10 days last October on Concerned Oregonians referendum petitions - ensuring HB 2007 and SB 2 would not be placed on the November 2008 ballot - Oregon's Supreme Court took nine (9) weeks to decide on the Attorney General's approved and certified wording! It's not too difficult to figure out what is going on here is it? As in California, the expressed will of the people doesn't matter to politicians and judges with a partisan agenda. | | It is clear to all Americans, including Oregonians, that very liberal office holders, including judges, have come to view their positions as an opportunity to impose their social policy views on all the rest of us.
Let's not kid ourselves. Judges are the new rulers in America, in violation of both State and Federal Constitutions. And on these issues, they and their friends in the ACLU and Basic Rights Oregon are in synch. None of them want to see the people VOTE on either SB 2 or HB 2007. Polls throughout the nation do not support same sex marriage or granting special rights and privileges to homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders, and those who claim gender confusion to prey on women and children in public places. | | Politicians and Judges with a Partisan Political Agenda In California, and now Oregon, 'we the people' are not part of their game plan for America. 'Top down' government by the secular regressive and intolerant elite - tyrant style - is the new law of the land, not the Constitution, or the people. Whatever happened to 'government of, by, and for the people'?
Is this still America? Are the people still in control of the government, or are we just 'subjects' again! It appears we have become a nation led not by public 'servants' but by politicians and judges with a political agenda.
Oregon's Governor, the Legislature, the Secretary of State, Elections Division officials, County Clerks - and now, Oregon's Supreme Court Judges - have thwarted the will of the people, denying our right to VOTE on critical moral and social issues that will affect us all. | | What they cannot do however, is thwart our right to VOTE come the Fall Election!
The ballot box is all that remains between government by the consent of the people, or government by those who believe they are more enlightened, and can rule us by decree.
N.B. Every democrat in both the Oregon House of Representatives and Senate voted in the 2007 legislative session to ignore the 1,078,000 Oregonians who VOTED in 2004 to protect marriage between a man and a woman only, with an amendment to the Oregon Constitution. The will of the people of Oregon was not respected by the legislature and all six elected state officials from the Governor and the Secretary of State on down to the Attorney General, State Treasurer, and Superintendent of Public Instruction.
These officials, in lockstep with the ACLU and Basic Rights Oregon, openly supported so called 'same sex marriage' in 2004, as well as special rights and privileges for homosexuals, and they do so today.
Remember this come the Fall Election as you fill out your ballot. Just VOTE! And VOTE as many of them OUT of public office as possible! | | Value Your Vote, Vote Your Values!
